Know that the wireless switch is in the "on" position, by the way. * In the Network Connections dialog, I only see "local area connection." * There is no "Wireless Link" control panel, nor Bluetooth or anything else wireless. * There is no wireless card that I can see is shown in the Device Manager, only an Intell 82567LM Gigabit Network Connection card. RAM, HD, etc.: As much as I could put on it.Įverything is dandy except for the absense of wireless / wifi. The vendor had a license for a downgrade from Vista, so I took it, and it came with XP out of the box. I also looked in the forums here and didn't see anything, so here goes.Ĭomputer: New T400s purchased through Lenovo Direct (my employer's preferred vender) I tried Lenovo's "customer service" number, but have to leave messages that are never returned.

Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. In the new Properties window, click on the Power Management tab.Make sure the Wireless Network Connection for your Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 5100 in enabled. In the navigation area on the left, click on Manage network connections.Double-click the Network and Sharing Center icon.I'm not sure it's completely necessary to do it in both the Control Panel and the ThinkVantage tools - it doesn't seem to hurt. The following settings allowed me to virtually eliminate these issues by making sure the wireless interface never turns off to save power.

When this happens, the only fix for me seems to be to reboot the machine. The ThinkVantage wireless tools don't help either and frequently the applications won't load at all. nothing I do from the Vista network configuration windows can bring the wireless interface back up. Then all of a sudden it doesn't work, and worst of all. The built-in wireless for the Thinkpad T400 gave me endless issues on Vista.Įverything works perfectly for a while.
